Welcome to my Guitar Journey

Welcome to my Guitar Journey

Well I'm happy to report that the success of my latest CD A Guitar Journey, released in early 2009, ensures that like Bob Dylan's never ending tour , my guitar journey will go on and on.

National and local airplay for the album is ongoing and there’s renewed interest in my previous CD, Dreams And Soft Guitars as a result. A word of thanks must go to the many radio presenters and their producers who have brought my new instrumental music to national attention for the first time since the release of my Heroes (singer-songwriter) album in 1987 – especially to RTE’s John Creedon, Alf McCarthy, Lilian Smith, Michelle Harding (and all the Late Date team), Maxi ( Risin’Time), Vincent Woods and Nuala O Neill (The Arts Show), to Lyric F M’s Gay Byrne, Eamonn Lenihan (The Blue Of The Night), Rachel Blech (The Magic Carpet and the summer edition of The J K Ensemble), to Sean Brophy (4FM) ,to Tom O Sullivan (Limerick 95), to Marian Egan (and all in Clare F M) and to all the other local radio presenters who continue to bring my music to the people of Ireland and beyond. Thanks also to Maggie Breathnach of TG 4 for having me on Imeall, their Arts Show in December 2009. Also many thanks to Joe Cantwell for looking after my website and John Conway for maintaining my guitars through this, my busiest period in music.

This summer I added The Ballydehob Jazz Festival, The Kinsale Arts Festival and The Iniscealtra Festival, Mountshannon to my festival performance list with 3 dates at the Cork Jazz Festival (Oct 2010) and a lunchtime concert at the Irish World Academy, UL, Limerick (Feb. 2011) to come.

I’ve put up a few videos on You Tube and my version of What A Wonderful World (from the singing of Louis Armstrong) has received over 3000 views to date. I’ve composed some new pieces for jazz, acoustic and Spanish guitars which will feature on my next album. I’m also arranging some standard tunes for same and for inclusion in my live performances.

Thanks for your visit –your support is what keeps me going. All the best with your own dreams, plans and projects. Austin Durack
